Will travel to anywhere in Brisbane and surrounding areas.
I am a mature aged, retired social worker who worked for many years with Queensland Health in the alcohol, toacco and other drugs and mental health fields. This included both working directly with clients and managing a 24 hour Statewide suite of telephone services. After retirement I worked casually and volunteered with the Trading Circle, an organisation dedicated to the empowerment of women and girls in developing nations (now closed in Brisbane) and with Crimestoppers, a valuable community based service which has also now closed down and been returned to the Police. For the past 9 months I have been involved in the Disability Sector as a Support Facilitator.
I have skills in support, counselling, management, community engagement and problem-solving and am passionate about making a contribution in areas such as disability and disadvantage where I believe I can make a difference.
I am interested in support facilitation roles where I can support the person living with disability by:
– helping the person to live a fulfilling life and to achieve to their fullest potential through engagement with the community
– contributing to ensuring that they are receiving the level of care they are entitled to
– undertaking all administration tasks
In addition where appropriate, the role may also include providing support to families through assuming responsibility for day to day administrative tasks, management of support workers and general troubleshooting thus allowing time for the family to engage in quality time and helping relieve some of the day to day stressors.
